Fujifilm XF400mm F4.5 R LM OIS WR

A 400mm prime for birds, aircraft and motorsport, at 1,245g.

This is a super-telephoto prime for Fujifilm X bodies, and Fujifilm announced it in September 2026. On APS-C it frames like a 609mm lens on full frame. Fujifilm built it to be carried: it weighs 1,245g.

Fujifilm's two teleconverters fit it. The XF1.4X TC WR takes it to 560mm (853mm equivalent) and the XF2X TC WR to 800mm (1,219mm equivalent).

We haven't shot with this lens. The figures come from the sources below; the pairings are our judgement from those figures.

Launch date and price

Fujifilm announced it from Tokyo on 4 September 2026, and it went on sale in Japan on 18 September 2026. The US price is $3,199.95 and the Canadian price is $3,899.99. Japan has no list price: Impress expected about ¥491,700. We found no official euro or pound price.

Who it suits

Bird, wildlife, aircraft and motorsport photographers who want more reach than a telephoto zoom gives and a lens they can still hand-hold. It is not a walkaround lens: the 2.75m minimum focus rules out most close work.

Cameras it pairs well with

The X-H2S has a stacked sensor for fast subjects. The X-H2 and X-T5 have 40MP sensors, which leave more room to crop a distant subject. At this weight a body with a deep grip helps.

Recipe pairings

We have no recipe made for wildlife yet, so these are the closest fits: true colour for plumage, something for flat grey days, and hard black and white for shapes against the sky.

Faithful Reala Ace colour with slightly softer highlights, so feathers and liveries stay close to what you saw.
